Have you ever noticed how many mini storage places there are and how many new ones are being built? Don't people know that if they need to rent a separate space for their possessions, it means they have too much? Is it a disease? Is it a genetic flaw? Is is a societal distinction? Or is it an adaptational quirk of our species that doesn't make evolutionary sense. Purge I say, purge! If you haven't used it in a year, it's probably worthless to you or worse; it's costing you money to keep it locked up, safe from all those who don't have enough.

I love your exhortation to purge! It brings a chuckle to me. I love the quote about your possesions owning you and am also feeling like I'm starting to accumulate extra stuff that I'm keeping cause I just might need it "someday." I wonder too at this reason for this pack-rat habit. Is it the false feeling of security in possesions? Or an actual security in possesions? I don't know. But it's great to think about and good to purge your possesions regularly. In fact.. I just received 3 new pairs of slightly illfitting pants from a friends pre-move purge. Share the wealth!
I'm liking what you're sharing. Thanks for speaking it out. From not being bound to your possesions, to ecological awareness, to seeing the beauty in everday, it's encouraging to me to know that there are people who also sometimes are given pause at what they see around them.

I'm for purging, too, but I don't yet have room for my camping gear in my home, so I'm renting a little space until I get those darn shelves built above the water tank.
